What type of installation did you use? The only one that I've used is the "Entire Distribution" with the full software companion CD turned on, and I've always been prompted to select between CDE or JDS. I enjoyed that operating system and wanted to try JDSR3 on Solaris. I had JDSR2 (Linux) running on this machine without any problems.
The machine that I am running this on is a one gig amd thunderbird processor. When I logged in I checked under options to see if I could select JDS but it wasn't listed. It simply logged me into the CDE desktop environment. I didn't recieve any request concerning desktops. Have you tried to log in? When you log in the first time it should ask you if you want CDE or JDS. How can I get the JDS desktop environment to work. The Java desktop was not listed.ĭid I do something wrong on the install? I downloaded the four installation CDs, the language CD and the companion CD.
